Step 1 - Go to pages in your Shopify admin
To edit the SEO settings for the pages you've created in Shopify, start by navigating to the page that lists all your pages. You can do this by clicking on the "Pages" option in the menu on the left under Online Store.
Step 2 - Choose the page you want to edit
Once you click on the Pages menu option, you’ll see a list of all the pages you’ve created in your Shopify store. To edit the SEO settings for a specific page, simply click on the page to view its details. In this example we are going to edit the page called "Pent Library - Must have Shopify App".
Step 3 - Enter the SEO settings
After selecting the page you want to edit the SEO settings for, you’ll be taken to a screen where you can adjust various options. Here, you can choose the page template, enter the page title, and make other changes.
For this tutorial, click the blue text that says "Edit website SEO", located in the Search engine listing preview box. You can see its location in the image below.
Step 4 - Make your SEO changes
When you click the Edit website SEO button, a dropdown will appear with three fields: Page Title, Description, and URL and Handle. These fields can be customized to align with your SEO keyword strategy. At the top of the container, you’ll also see a preview of how your page will appear in Google search results—use this preview to optimize your SEO settings for each page.
Step 5 - Save the changes
Once you’ve made the changes and are satisfied with the result, be sure to save your updates by clicking the Save button in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
Tips for working with SEO
When working on SEO, there are many factors to consider in order to give your website the best chance of ranking higher on Google and other search engines. Below, we’ve outlined key areas to focus on when optimizing your site for SEO.
1. Keyword research
Before optimizing a page for SEO, it’s important to conduct keyword research so you have data-driven insights on what changes to make and why. Tools like Semrush and Ahrefs can help you identify gaps in your organic SEO and allow you to compare your performance with competitors.
2. Make good content on the pages
When Google crawls your website’s pages, it examines whether the content is properly structured and relevant to the user’s search query. Well-designed, user-friendly websites don’t just look great—they tend to rank higher on Google because they build trust, keep users engaged for longer, and offer a better overall experience.

3. Re-crawl your page if you have made updates
After updating a page—whether it’s the content or SEO settings as outlined in the tutorial above—make sure to re-crawl the URL so Google can reflect the changes. You can do this through Google Search Console by entering the URL of the updated page. This will prompt Google to prioritize indexing your page, helping it appear more quickly and accurately in search results.
